Description

Dingle Samhain Single Malt strikes a bold, expressive tone for a limited edition Irish release—ripe red fruit, layered spice, and muscatel sweetness ride atop a firm backbone of malt and oak. It’s festive, vibrant, and celebrates seasonal character with authority.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Samhain is the inaugural release in Dingle Distillery’s Wheel of the Year series, paying homage to the Celtic festival that marks the end of summer and the coming of winter. (Limited to approximately 10,000 bottles globally, with a modest U.S. allocation.)
The whiskey begins life as triple-distilled Irish single malt, matured in first-fill bourbon barrels for its initial stage. It is then finished for two years in first-fill Muscatel casks, adding a layer of fortified wine character and aromatic sweetness.
Bottled at 50.5 % ABV, this release is unblended and non-chill filtered, preserving texture, depth, and vibrancy. Dingle Distillery, founded in 2012 in County Kerry, is one of Ireland’s younger craft distillers, known for artisanal batches and expressive cask experimentation.

Tasting Profile

Nose: Fresh orchard and red fruits—cherry, raspberry—emerge first, layered with candied orange peel, raisin, subtle vanilla, and mild cinnamon spice. A floral whisper and a touch of honeyed malt hover in the background.
Palate: The entry is juicy and rich—red berries, dried fruits, and fruitcake nuance. The Muscatel finish brings forward raisin, almond, and light dried apricot tones. Beneath, oak spice, gentle pepper, and a hint of chocolate develop.
Finish: Medium to long; fruit fades gradually leaving spice (cinnamon, clove), subtle oak tannin, and a touch of warming malt sweetness on the lingering tail.
